March 2002

With low proton levels other factors for bad reception becomes detectable. March 5th
Trans Atlantic reception stopped after a coronal hole disturbance. Solar wind was blowing
signals away. All other indicators were OK. Only a few very unstable and distorted signals from
Argentine/Uruguay were noted a few seconds now and then and same signal on all antennas. The La plata wire was not producing better signal than the Alaska antenna.

1 - 2.3   Fair to good NA reception obviously but I did not listen.
2 - 7.3   Fine signals in Parkalompolo on the 3rd and fair  next two days. Then nothing. See PAX19 log.
    8 - 9.3   Nothing.
10 - 11.3   Probably not much but I did no listening.
12.3   Quite a few stations from eastern Great Lakes when I did a five minute check at 0715 UTC.
But a high level of atmospheric noise so hard to get more than standard stations readable.
13 - 17.3    "Nothing".
18.3   VOAR-1210 very strong (S9+10dB) for long periods, but  not readable! Eve hard to recognise
the English language!  QSA 4 but QRK 1.  Distorsion caused by the Aurora Borealis!
19 - 31.3    Off season!  I switched off for this season on the 18th!  I'll be back on late August!

North America (UTC)

Nothing to report!
