KORN Mitchell SD 1490 My 15th SD QSL has just arrived from Mitchell. 15 out of 15 reported SD station have verified! That makes an unbeatable 100%! John Koons, GM likes his "fun business" and writes "In what other business could we get a nice letter from a stranger such as yourself from half way around the world." KORN has verified at least twice before to Sweden but it's still a rare one here. The night of December 12th 1999 (Our local time.) was one of the better last winter for US reception and around this time South Dakota had a little better signal than the other states. KSOO-1140 also noted around the same time.
WSMO Camp Lejeune NC 1580 WSMO was heard through WSRF one morning last December on my yearly DXpedition in Mertajärvi. My first report did not result so I sent a follow up to the corporate office in Clarksville MD and now I first got an e-mail promissing snail mail and then a nice letter plus this home made card and a photo of the WSMO antenna mast. All this from W3BRH Lee Afflerbach. This came from Clarksville but the address on the card may work well too.... Thanks Lee for this "SM-1" ! SM for Sweden and 1 for first verified reception. CTC Media Group also own WNOS NC 1450 which should be possible catch for me some day....
KFDI Wichita KS 1070 I first heard KFDI in February 1988 but no QSL then and a couple of reports later did not result either. But now I got a fine handwritten letter and a few stickers from Ralph Cramm, CE on last winters report! Thanks Ralph!
WGBF Evansville IN 1280 was a total surprise when the Aurora Borealis boosted their signal to a surprising level for a few minutes a night in December last year when not much was heard from USA. The night was "useless" for most parts but then came this Indiana/Ohio skip that lasted for only a few minutes. This station has made it at least once before over to Sweden but did not verify that time if the LHU database is correct. I did not get any response on my report last winter but my follow up now resulted in the letter above plus some station profile material including a coverage map. About ten years ago a QSL came to Finland and I see that the verie signer then was the same as in my letter now! Thanks to John Story, PD!
KTBK Sherman TX 1700 Early in the night of September 24th 1999 I heard KTBK with good signal for a couple of hours and it turned out I was not alone here in Sweden to have noted this skip. But I seem to have recorded the station ID first of us listening this night. The station may have benn on a 10kW test this night as they have been less powerful after this. Or conditions were extreme this night? The report was not aswered as was more or less expected. They must have been flooded with reports... A follow up letter now in August resulted in this card to my surprise! My picture post card of Byske with my stamps and label! A QSL text handwritten on this and that is all it takes to make a DX:er happy! My e-mail thanks was answered too! Thanks Bruce Gilbert, PD! A few days later the certificate below turned up in the mail too!!
